Kristen Rome, J.D. '11 Named Louisiana Center for Children's Rights Co-Executive Director
Loyola University New Orleans alumna Kristen Rome, J.D. '11 has been named Co-Executive Director for Louisiana Center for Children's Rights (LCCR), sharing responsibility with Aaron Clark-Rizzio, who has led the organization for the past six years. Previously, Kristen served as LCCR’s JLWOP Legal Representation Director.
In her new role, Kristen will focus primarily on policy, advocacy, and communications. In addition to being a defense attorney and Loyola New Orleans alumna, she is a mother and New Orleans native. Deeply rooted in our community, Kristen is dedicated to expanding possibilities for Louisiana families.
At LCCR, Kristen has led a team of staff attorneys representing young people who face the most serious sentence any child can receive– Juvenile Life Without Parole (JLWOP). She has a history of continuously taking concrete steps to protect the rights of children, helping families navigate interwoven systems that – from conception – define young people’s life outcomes.
While at Loyola New Orleans, Kristen participated in the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic & Center for Social Justice as a student practitioner. In addition to her legal work, Kristen is a certified holistic doula, a mentor with Project Butterfly New Orleans, and a former Professor of American Constitutional Law at Shanghai International Studies University School of Law in Shanghai, China.
